FOOTBALL: A HAT-TRICK from Rob Flynn and a brace of spot-kick saves by Steve Nuttall added up to a pulsating Midas League first division clash.
Under slate-grey High Crompton skies at New Barn playing fields, both sides contributed to a cracking afternoon’s football - but it was Cartshaft’s character that eventually shone through.
Though Flynn bagged a well-taken derby-day treble, it was Cartshaft custodian Nuttall, formerly with Stalybridge Celtic, who stole the show with two penalty stops.
Nuttall first denied Tom Sellers after 61 minutes, before keeping out John Keating’s 12-yard effort nine minutes later.
