Mossley simply sublime - Band

FOOTBALL: MOSSLEY joint-boss Peter Band has hailed the team’s performance in last Saturday’s home 3-0 win against Ossett Town as the best since he and Lloyd Morrison took over as managers on the eve of last season.
The Lilywhites are flying at present. Unbeaten in six league games, if they beat Farsley tomorrow at Seel Park, they will leapfrog their eighth-placed visitors in the table.
Against Ossett, though, when Mossley were three goals up by half-time, the team was irresistible.
Last season’s leading scorer, Dougie Carroll, appears to have turned down a move to Division One North rivals New Mills.
Band said: “New Mills put seven days’ notice of approach in for Dougie, but he said he’s not interested.
“He has been in and out of the side lately because all our strikers are playing so well, but he’s told Lloyd and I that he wants to stay with Mossley and fight for his place. He got 20 goals last season and he is a big player for us.”
MOSSLEY FC’s scheduled new Evo-Stik Northern Premier League Football Academy course open day was postponed last night due to the weather. It will now take place at Seel Park on Thursday, February 19.
AFTER the increased focus on CHADDERTON last week thanks to their involvement in the last 32 of the FA Carlsberg Vase, it’s back to the bread and butter of league action tomorrow.
Chaddy couldn’t face a tougher task: the local outfit travels to North-West Counties League First Division table-toppers Atherton Collieries.
But Chaddy are on something of a roll; unbeaten in seven league games with plenty of games in hand on teams above them.
ROCK-bottom OLDHAM BORO go to eighth-placed Cheadle Town.
