NON-LEAGUE FOOTBALL: MOSSLEY joint-boss Peter Band has saluted the impact made by recent capture Porya ‘Rio’ Ahmadi.

Iranian Ahmadi (22) began his career at Sheffield United and featured in the Blades’ FA Youth Cup final team of 2011.

After his release from Bramall Lane, the Manchester-based striker joined Lilywhites’ rivals Salford City and New Mills.

Band and joint-manager Lloyd Morrison snapped up the student from the Millers three weeks ago - and he has since scored twice in three games.

Band said: “Rio’s been great for us so far. He’s fitted in well and he’s a character. He’s told me he’s going to get 20 goals this season. He already had 11 before he joined us, but he’s still confident he can get the remainder,”

Mossley are without a fixture tomorrow. They are next in action on Tuesday when they welcome North-West Counties League outfit Irlam in the semi-final of the Manchester Premier Cup.

CHADDERTON face a long trip to Holker Old Boys tomorrow for a North-West Counties League First Division clash. Chaddy, 15th in the table, are 10 points behind sixth-placed Holker, but they have three games in hand.

ROCK-bottom OLDHAM BORO face a tough test in the same division as they host fourth-placed Daisy Hill at Seel Park.
