GOLF:
WOMEN’S teams from 90 clubs are on the start line for the MDLGA Bell Cup tournament.
Dunham Forest will be defending the trophy they won for the first time in 2014 at Astbury.
This year’s finals day will be at Rochdale Golf Club, the home club of MDLGA president Janet Collins, and the Forest team will begin their defence with a round-one tie at Brookdale.
Oldham have a reasonable record in the competition and, spearheaded by former lady captain Sheila Antrobus, begin their campaign with a home tie against Sale after a bye into the last 64.
THE draws for the Manchester Alliance inter-club knockouts have been made, with local clubs keen to feature strongly in the Dunham Forest Trophy competition. Crompton and Royton are at home to Rossendale, while Werneth welcome Wychwood Park, and Oldham visit Chorlton.
Blackley, Brookdale and Saddleworth have each received byes.
