First team hit back in style

HOCKEY:
AFTER an unexpected defeat against Didsbury in their previous fixture, Oldham firsts were keen to regain the winning thread at home to Timperley.
And despite trailing early on, two goals each from Louise Howard and Karen Rowley helped the hosts to an impressive 4-1 victory.
Keeper Sarah Simpson was beaten by a deflection to leave Oldham chasing the game, but they kept their composure and soon parity was restored.
Timperley attacked Oldham’s defence remained solid and it wasn’t long before Howard put her side in front. Oldham continued to dominate after the break, with player-of-the-match Rebecca Blair creating plenty of problems for Timperley
The result has lifted Oldham to fourth in Division Two South-West of the Women’s North Manchester Hockey League, with games in hand over the teams around them.
