RUGBY:
THIS year’s Standard Cup semi-final line-up is complete following Rochdale Mayfield’s defeat of Fitton Hill Bulldogs.
The National Conference League outfit won 78-0 in a tie at Hollinwood’s Fields New Road ground.
“Mayfield were a class act,” reflected Fitton Hill coach Dave Hughes. “But my lads never gave up and kept charging into tackles right to the end. They will have learned from this with the new season not far away.”
Mayfield now face Folly Lane in the last four of the cup, probably on February 28. The other semi-final is between Oldham St Anne’s and Saddleworth Rangers, on a date to be agreed.
