CRICKET: DELIGHTED players and officials from Glodwick Cricket Club can boast a new practice aid to help them stay ahead of their rivals.
The Warren Lane reigning Saddleworth and District Cricket League champions now have three lanes of nets thanks to a £30,000 grant from the England and Wales Cricket Board and £12,557 from Barclays.
Glodwick chairman Dave Chaloner said: “It will be particularly useful as we launch a third senior team in the North Manchester League in 2015.”
The money contributed towards the removal of unusable nets and the installation of the latest ECB compliant three-lane version.
Since 2004, the club has acquired grants of £125,000 from Barclays and the Football Foundation, which has allowed the club to become a major local community sport provider.
