FOOTBALL: HEYSIDE made it a lucky 13 as they stretched their unbeaten Huddersfield League Division Two run with a 4-3 win against Cumberworth.

The dominant home side went ahead after 25 minutes. Daniel Dunn’s pace took him past the full-back before he delivered a terrific cross into the six-yard box, where a Cumberworth defender panicked and slid the ball into his own net.

The away side pulled a goal back after 60 minutes when a ball into the Heyside box wasn’t dealt with and Cumberworth made it 3-2.
Heyside brought on Josh Briddon and Rick Ollerton to steady the ship and in the 70th minute Leonard smashed home again, this time from inside the box.
With only five minutes left, a speculative overhead kick made it 4-3.

The hopes of the L and C Inter-League team to progress to the next stage of the Jeff Walton Memorial Trophy looked to be ending as they trailed the West Lancs League 4-0 after 55 minutes.
But goals from AFC Oldham trio Sean Chappell, Callum Franklin and Dom Hallam, topped by James Moran’s effort, levelled the scores to take the L and C to the top of their group table.
