Lee Ewbank is relishing a return to track racing after a four-year hiatus.

The 29 year old from High Crompton last raced competitvely in 2010 on a 125cc bike, but is back on the tarmac on a 650cc Suzuki capable of 130mph.

Ewbank will compete in the Thundersport GB race series and insists he is well prepared for the new venture. He has spent the last few months familiarising himself with the set-up of his new bike.

“I had a good season back in 2010 and finished second in my class,” said Ewbank. “Getting married meant other commitments took over, but I never really left racing.

“I can’t wait for the races to start. There wlll be 35 riders on the grid at that first race — what an experience.”

Not content to let the season wash over him and enjoy the ride, Ewbank believes good results could propel him on to a bigger stage.

“If I get some decent results this season, more sponsors will take interest and the Ducati Trioptions Cup could be an option. Let’s see what happens.”

The Thundersport GB series has nine meetings at circuits including Cadwell Park, Donington and Rockingham.
