Non-league football:

MOSSLEY returned to winning ways in style with a well-deserved 3-1 Evo-Stik League Division One North victory against Prescot Cables at Seel Park.

The Lilywhites, who had lost their first game in 11 against Bamber Bridge in midweek, had to respond the hard way, coming from behind before finally seeing off the gutsy Merseysiders.

Cables’ striker Sam Corlett stunned the home faithful when he fired home in the 12th minute, but it didn’t take too long before Tom Pratt levelled.

Rio Ahmadi then handed the hosts a 2-1 lead when he scored shortly before the interval.

Ahmadi scored his second and Mossley’s third midway through the second period to hand the hosts another three points which leaves them handily placed just outside the play-off berths.

Mossley are ninth, shy of the top six on goal difference only. Mossley’s next game is away at Brighouse Town on Saturday.

CHADDERTON suffered a stunning 3-1 home defeat against Holker Old Boys in the North-West Counties League First Division.

Chaddy had fired themselves into a first-minute lead thanks to Chris Pauley, but two goals inside a minute from Daniel Pattinson and Michael Rushton (penalty) handed the Old Boys the lead at the interval. Rushton completed his team’s win after the restart.

OLDHAM BORO also lost 3-1, at high-flying Hanley Town. Darren Scanlon scored Boro’s consolation goal in the second half.

On target for Hanley were Theo Stair (two) and Dan Hughes. Chaddy are back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Northwich Flixton Villa, while Boro are at home to Rochdale Town tomorrow night (7.45pm kick-off).
