Royton win battle of the Towns

IN-FORM Royton Town consolidated their current fifth position in the FBT Manchester League Premier Division table with a resounding 3-0 away victory at Atherton Town.

Mark Howard’s men will hope to take confidence from such a fine result into tomorrow’s tricky-looking assignment at Rochdale Sacred Heart.

Elsewhere in the top flight, mid-table Avro also enjoyed a satisfactory win, 3-1 at home against Tameside neighbours Dukinfield Town.

Springhead were held to a home goalless draw by Wythenshawe Amateurs.

Chadderton’s second string suffered more woe in Division One as they tumbled to a 3-0 home defeat against Wilmslow Albion.

Chadderton face a local derby at Hollinwood tomorrow.
