Non-league football: MOSSLEY’S Evo-Stik League Division One North play-off push remains firmly on track following a comfortable 2-0 victory at stuttering Radcliffe Borough.
Matty Purcell sent the Lilywhites on their way to a well-deserved three points when he fired home after just seven minutes. It was late in the second half when John Bennett wrapped up the win at Stainton Park.
The Lilywhites are now seventh in the table, two points shy of Scarborough Athletic in the final play-off place.
Mossley are back in action tomorrow when they face a crunch home clash against a Farsley side who are just one place and two points behind them in the table. Kick-off at Seel Park is at 7.45pm.
CHADDERTON and OLDHAM BORO both enjoyed much-needed victories in the North-West Counties League First Division.
Chaddy superbly defeated divisional leaders Cammell Laird 1907 1-0 thanks to Sean Sherwood’s goal in the 10th minute at the MCA Stadium. That lifted them to eighth in the table and they now look set to make a late charge for the play-offs.
Rock-bottom Boro, who had been thumped 9-0 at AFC Darwen in midweek, responded perfectly with a 2-0 home win against Eccleshall.
An own-goal set Boro on their way early on, before Paul Carey completed the victory in the second half.
Chaddy return to action on Wednesday with a trip to AFC Darwen, the same night as Boro travel to Cheadle Town.
