MOSSLEY edged back into the Evo-Stik League Division One North play-off places thanks to yesterday’s nervy 2-0 home win against High Peak rivals New Mills at Seel Park.

Goals either side of half-time from Tom Pratt and Andy Keogh kept the Lilywhites on track for the top six as they quickly shook off the disappointment of a big and potentially damaging defeat two days earlier.

The Lilywhites were soundly beaten at Lancaster City on Saturday. Mike Fish scored from the penalty spot in a 4-1 defeat.

Now with just four games to play, Mossley face another tough test on Saturday when they travel to automatic promotion-chasing Darlington 1883.

THERE was a derby stalemate at the MCA Stadium yesterday as CHADDERTON and OLDHAM BORO drew 0-0.

Chadderton will feel the more disappointed of the two teams as they missed an ideal opportunity to continue their recent surge towards the play-off places in the North-West Counties League First Division.

Boro, meanwhile, remain rock bottom of the table so will have felt some satisfaction at having stifled their high-flying hosts.

Chaddy came from 2-0 behind to beat Barnton 3-2 on Saturday. On target in a thrilling victory were Niall Sultan (two) and James Curley, who notched the winner in the last minute.

Boro were thrashed 5-0 at home by Cammell Laird 1907. Jamie Henders scored four times, including a hat-trick of penalties.

Chaddy return to action tomorrow night when they host Widnes (7.45pm kick-off), while Boro’s next fixture is at home against Wigan Robin Park on Saturday.
