CROMPTON and Royton’s Margaret Butterworth has received national recognition for her success and longevity in golf.
Margaret’s achievement in winning the Women’s Chronicle Cup in 2014 at the age of 80 was featured in the latest “England Golf Women’s News” publication in the feature ‘You’re Never Too Old for Golf!’
She has taken part in the competition for more than 40 years and the nearest she came to winning was in 1975 when she lost out in a play-off. Margaret, who plays off a very useful 20 handicap, said: “It just shows that you have to keep trying!”
