FOOTBALL: THE worrying end-of-season malaise that has affected the Midas Plumbing and Heating Oldham Sunday League is continuing, with White Hart the latest club to leave the league - this time by expulsion.
Hart’s latest inability to raise a team means they have failed to fulfil six fixtures this season, with four games remaining. Their record has been expunged from Martin Buckley Division Two.
Last weekend two more scheduled fixtures were chalked off, with clubs unable to raise teams.
Most alarmingly, the two clubs were from the top flight, with Heyside failing to get a team together for their President’s Trophy tie at Limeside King George and Crown unable to contest at Jack Abbott Premier Division clash at Rifle ‘A’. King George and Rifle were both awarded 1-0 walkovear victories.
Back to action on the pitch, and Fitton Hill completed a routine 2-0 Jack Abbott Premier Division victory at home against Failsworth Athletic.
Coppice United roared to an impressive 4-2 win at Westwood thanks to strikes from Shez Rashid, Umar Khatab, Waqar Younis and Naveed Butt.
Carrion Crow continue to go well in David Giblin Division One. Their latest win, 3-2 at Springhead Libs, is this week’s “Match of the Day”.
Ste Barrow was the main man in Martin Buckley Division Two. His superb five-goal haul helped his Alt Athletic side to a thumping 8-2 success at Rochdale Rangers.
Carl Diveney, Liam Tupman and Kristian Igo were also on the mark for Athletic, while Kabuende Katembe and Idi Lulaca replied for Rangers.
Manchester Swifts edged out Oddies 14 3-2 thanks to goals from Anthony Whitehouse, Danny Allot and Joe Jackson. Lewis Jones and Mike Casson hit back for Oddies.
