Big guns clash on opening day

CRICKET: FIRST and second respectively in 2014, Glodwick and Saddleworth lock horns on the opening day of the SWB Commercials Saddleworth and District Cricket League season on Sunday.
Both teams will be looking to put down an early marker at Well-i-Hole. With a host of experienced and gifted players in their line-up, Moorside have strong title credentials, and they get underway with a trip to face a much-changed Friarmere side.
Stayley are also fancied to go close. They head to Uppermill, where Michael Brooks takes charge for the first time in a competitive game.
DELPH get their Drakes Huddersfield League Premiership campaign under way tomorrow with a trip to Scholes.
Delph finished fourth last season, while Scholes were sixth.
Arron Lilley’s side then travel to Slaithwaite on Sunday in the Heavy Woollen Cup.
Both matches start at 1pm.
