Kays lives up to top billing

BOXING: TOP-of-the-bill Jon Kays secured a routine points victory against Wiltshire’s Liam Richards at the Oldham Sports Centre.

Kays scored 80 points to 73 against Richards following eight tough rounds.

The VIP Promotions show saw the return of local favourite Ashley Mayall following 13 months out of the ring, and he defeated Kevin McCauley 40-39 on points following four action-packed rounds.

Ronnie Heffron, who until Friday had been scheduled to fight, didn’t feature.
