Oldham netball youngsters seal North-West title

OLDHAM Netball Club’s youngsters have romped to the North-West Premier League title for the first time, 20 points clear at the top.
The final day of the campaign brought with it a 54-37 victory over Tameside to end on a high.
It was an impressive season for the club, with the senior team claiming the National Premier League.
And the under-16s are in action in the national finals on May 2, when the club hopes to take a fifth title in a row for the age group.
“It has been yet another fantastic season for our senior players,” said head coach Pam Hazelton. “Our juniors are now set to follow, hoping to take titles in the county leagues.
“The success of the club is down to the hard work and dedication of the coaching staff and players.”
With a host of players missing due to other competitions, some untidy play from Oldham in their last
North-West Premier League outing allowed Tameside the opportunity to punish their mistakes.
“The focus was to play smart and simple netball,” said team coach Suzy Ashworth.
“This didn’t happen for most of the game. It wasn’t pretty, but we came out with a convincing win and remain unbeaten all season. I’m so proud of all our players this season.”
