OLDHAM Titans’ National League programme has joined forces with the Manchester Junior Giants for the 2015-16 season.
The merged set-up becomes the Manchester Junior Giants, the club building on its existing junior Giants academy at Belle Vue and Titans’ work in trying to nurture the basketball stars of the future.
The newly-formed club will be part of Manchester Community Giants.
Anthony Lindsay, of Manchester Community Giants, said: “We are going to support the good work that Oldham Titans have been doing with their programme and help to build their provision.
“This will see the formation of the Manchester Junior Giants National League programme. It is also about creating pathways for players for the future.”
Neil Consterdine, chair of the Titans and now the Junior Giants, added: “Both clubs are doing some great work and by teaming up we are able to help each other.”
The two clubs will share resources and expertise, providing a pathway from junior teams through to the Giants’ professional British Basketball League side.
Trials will be held for under-12, 14, 16 and 18 boys’ teams and girls’ under-14 and 16 teams.
They take place at Oldham Sixth Form College tomorrow and Sunday and on May 2-3.
