Relentless champions sink Aimbry

FOOTBALL: Huddersfield League Division Two champions Heyside shrugged off the unavailibility of a number of players as they triumphed 2-1 at Aimbry.
Goalkeepers Jack Suttie and Michael Butler were both forced to play outfield and manager Geoff Howard stepped in as goalkeeper.
After Heyside had been presented with the league shield, their Yorkshire opponents went on to take the lead after 25 minutes when a long ball over the top saw the Aimbry striker lob an advancing Howard.
The second half saw the home side tire quickly and despite Heyside missing their usual spark and energy, they took the game to their hosts. On the hour a superb pass from Reece Hursthouse found top scorer James Leonard, who made no mistake.
The winner came in the last minute as full-back Daniel Pauley raced 60 yards down the line, beat two Aimbry defenders and crossed to captain Hursthouse, who stroked the ball home.
Heyside complete their super season tomorrow when they host second-placed Skelmanthorpe.
Diggle have endured a mixed few days in Division One. They lost 1-0 at home to Newsome, before hitting back in midweek, defeating Berry Brow 1-0.
Dan McLoughlin (three), Nick Lishman (two), Craig Pole and Dave Ashton scored for 3D Dynamos in a 7-1 Division Four win against Almondbury Woolpack.
Nick Warhurst scored for Uppermill in a 1-1 draw at Salendine Nook.
There was a 4-0 Groom Cup win at Brighouse Old Boys for 3D Dynamos.
Heyside’s second string continued their charge towards the Reserves Division Two title with a 6-4 win against Holmfirth Town.
Adam Fitzgerald scored all four goals for Uppermill in a thrilling 4-3 win against Honley in Reserves Division Four.
