ROYTON Band Club have been crowned Chadderton Snooker League champions after they won 5-1 at Stanley Road ‘A’. Hillbillies sealed the cards section after defeating Blue Club 5-0.
GREATER Manchester endured County Championship heartbreak in their opening group fixture against Derbyshire.
Gareth Gwilliam (21-2) and Dean Ferris (21-7) played starring roles as the home side won by 41 chalks at Tonge. There were also wins for Paul Heap (Springbank) and John Ashton (Royton).
But Manchester succumbed by 43 chalks in the away leg at Stretton despite victories for Tonge trio Gary Ellis, Jimmy Derby and Darren Griffiths.
