OLDHAM Northstars baseball team suffered consecutive defeats against Manchester A’s at Royton and Crompton.
The home side took the lead in the second innings of game one when skipper Den Schrader took a full count walk and stole his way to third base. Pitcher Jack Kempf then brought him home with a single to right field.
But Manchester fought back at the top of the fourth innings to make it 2-2, before clinching a double in the fifth to complete a 4-2 victory.
Both teams made a changes for the second game, with the Northstars constantly switching their line-up to blood a clutch of rookies.
The hosts found themselves 5-0 down after the third innings and 10-0 behind going into the fifth.
Northstars did not give up, however, and Jack Burton put them on the board with a two-point home run over the centre field fence, before Manchester stretched clear again for a 12-2 triumph.
Northstars are away to Newton Aycliffe on Sunday and at home against Bolton the following week.
