FOOTBALL: AVRO are up to second place in the FBT Manchester League Premier Division table after they beat visitors Wythenshawe Amateurs 3-2.
Springhead have enjoyed a productive week, following a 1-1 draw against East Manchester with a 1-0 midweek win at fellow mid-table side Hindsford.
Royton Town defeated Dukinfield Town 3-2.
Mick Brickill scored a hat-trick for Uppermill reserves in a 5-4 Division Three loss at Chapel Town, while Tommy Bunn netted for Uppermill, who finished the season third..
AVRO meet Royton Town in the Manchester League’s Gilgryst Cup final on Monday night (7.45pm kick-off) at Hyde FC’s Ewen Fields stadium. Supporters’ coaches go from Royton Town’s ground. Anyone wishing to travel on them can call at Pinchito’s Bar in Royton to book a seat.
DIGGLE finished in third place in Huddersfield League Division One, wrapping up their campaign with a 3-2 home victory against Shepley.
Uppermill finished their Division Four season in third place following a final-day 4-0 home win against Thornhill United. Nick Warhurst (two), Phil Butterworth and Ross Stanley scored.
SANTOS closed what has been a largely forgettable Lancashire and Cheshire League Division One campaign with a 6-3 home defeat at the hands of Gorse Hill.
FAILSWORTH Dynamos’ second string lost the Lancashire Amateur League Second XI Cup final, 1-0 to Rochdale Sacred Heart at Breightmet United’s ground.
