WOODHOUSES endured a bitter-sweet weekend in the Greene King Lancashire County League.
Yesterday the Belfields outfit made progress into the second round of the Walkden Cup thanks to a superb 72-run win at Denton. Taking first knock, ’Houses managed 158 all out before surging to victory after dismissing the hosts for just 86.
That was a far cry from Saturday, when ’Houses slid to the foot of the table with a defeat at home against Denton St Lawrence. Saints cruised to the maximum five points after replying to Woodhouses’ 96 all out with 99 for two.
DELPH pocketed their second win from six Drakes Huddersfield Premiership matches this term as they got the better of Elland at Huddersfield Road.
Wasim Qasim took six for 55 as Elland were dismissed for 169. In reply, Delph got home with two wickets to spare as Greg Buckley led the charge with a smart knock of 69. Former skipper Grant Jones scored an unbeaten 30.
