ONLY Dave Roberts has survived from last season’s Saddleworth and District Cricket League XI for Sunday’s renewal of the Readers Inter-League Knock-out.
Roberts, who suffered a first-round exit at the hands of the Bolton Association 12 months ago, will take his place in the middle-order in a side captained by Stayley’s Peter Skuse, a former professional at Saddleworth and Micklehurst. The Liverpool competition is the Saddleworth League’s opponent at Moorside (1.30pm)
Austerlands seamer Mohammed Irfan has been rewarded for a series of impressive performances with a call-up and he is joined by clubmate South African overseas amateur CJ Ferreira.
Team: Peter Skuse (Stayley, capt), Chris Gill (wkt), Alex Peters, A Hayes (all Greenfield), Darius Cummins (Friarmere), Dave Roberts, Mohammed Shakir (Saddleworth), Waqas Malik (Whalley Range), Mohammed Irfan, CJ Ferreira (Austerlands), Mark Whitehead (Glodwick). Players meet 12.15pm.
AUSTERLANDS have been reinstated into the Saddleworth League’s Moore Cup after it was found that first-round opponents South West Manchester had played an ineligible player.
With South West Manchester expelled from the second XI knock-out competition, Austerlands will now be at home to Micklehurst in the quarter-finals on Sunday, June 21.
