SIX hours of training paid off handsomely as eight members of Shaw Karate Club achieved first Dan black belts.
The octet were put through their paces at the UK’s Shukokai Karate Federation weekend course in Birmingham.
They then had to complete their grading in all aspects of karate under the watchful gaze of Shihan Eddie Daniels, an eighth Dan and world chief instructor for Kimura Shukokai International.
All eight reached the mark required for the honour, much to the delight of the Shaw club’s Sensei Keith Cockburn.
The successful recipients were Luke Walster, Bethanie Jardine, Pauline Jardine, Carrie Garner, Andrew Hall, Alex Nealon, Aaron Walster and Mark Jones.
If anyone is interested in joining Shaw Karate Club, go along to Fit Bodz Gym, Primrose Bank, on Mondays or Thursdays, from 7pm to 8.30pm.
