IT’S been a memorable year so far for Oldham’s Eclipse Acrobatic Gymnastics Club, which is based at the Earl Mill on Dowry Street.
Firstly, after 18 months of fund-raising, the club was able to order a brand new £23,000 sprung floor after Medlock Vale councillor Kaiser Rehman stepped in and offered to pay the final £2,000 required, from his constituency budget.
After Loughborough-based Tracks 2000 delivered and fitted the new floor, the club’s junior squad entered a competition in Wigan and all gymnasts won either a a gold or silver medal.
The Eclipse club, led by head coach Clare Jaskolka, was subsequently awarded the Gym Mark accreditation from British Gymnastics, meaning that they are a “safe, effective and child-friendly” outfit.
