GOLF: LADY vice-captain’s day at Werneth resulted in victory for Sheila Antrobus with 91-20-71, beating Dee Whittingham into second.
First division sweep in the major was won by Pat Grant (98-24-74) from Rose Bailey (99-24-75), while second division honours went to Vivien Leaver (106-30-76) from Gail Rowbotham (108-31-77).
The nine-hole competition was won by Lily Bevins.
DENISE Brown won the lady captain’s cup at Saddleworth. Linda Kenworthy (left) was runner-up, while pictured between them is lady-captain Pam Tomlinson, with Pam Taylor, the day prize winner, looking on.
CROMPTON and Royton’s Centenary Trophy, which has been made a major this year, was won by Joyce Adams (93-23-70) from Madge Millett (97-25-72).
SOPHIA Garrity won Blackley’s EGM Francis Smith strokeplay event with a return of 94-25-69.
Next came Eileen Fallon (90-19-71), Maxine Holt (98-26-72 CPO) and Denise Hurst (89-17-72).
