GOLF: ASHTON ‘B’ are the stand-out performers as the Oldham Golf League’s regular season reaches halfway.
Danny Andrew’s team has beaten all its rivals - the latest a 6-2 win over Denton - and leads the ‘B’ Division East by a handsome nine points.
But it is a real scrap behind them for the other semi-final play-off place, with Brookdale, Denton and Fairfield all on 20 points.
Ashton ‘A’ were knocked off their perch in ‘A’ Division East, losing 6-2 at Denton - a result that boosted the home side’s hopes and enabled Fairfield to take over at the top after beating Crompton and Royton 6-2.
Result of the week was a 6-2 win for Werneth ‘A’ at Brookdale, an outcome that keeps them in the hunt with a game in hand.
