BRACED FOR BATTLE . . . Delph’s Andy Kremner.
Boxing:
ANDY Kremner will face a big test on Saturday when he faces Nottingham tough guy Jack McCormack at Trafford Park.
Delph-based welterweight Kremner (22) has won all four of his fights as a pro, but McCormack (24) will be determined to upset local fight fans after fading following an encouraging start to his professional career. McCormack won his first professional bout but has lost three since.
But that doesn’t tell the full story: Kremner, who continue his steady development under trainer John Murray in Stockport, said: “McCormack provides a step up for me on Saturday. He has lost his last three fights but he was really good as an amateur. He has earned himself the nickname ‘Thunder’ because of his punching power. He’s known for taking out opponents.”
‘Krem de la Kremner’ isn’t overly concerned. The young battler is confident he will be celebrating after the fight.
“My training has been great and I’ve been getting in some quality sparring. I’m not concerning myself with McCormack until Saturday night. If I keep myself sharp and focused I should have enough to get the win.”
The Victoria Warehouse show is being headlined by Jimmy ‘Kilrain’ Kelly fighting for the WBC world youth gold title against tough Ghanian Isaac Aryee, who has an impressive 19 wins with 18 knockouts.
