CRICKET: HEYSIDE'S Lake Garage CLL Championship campaign continues to gather momentum.
The league new boys maintained their recent impressive form with a 133-runs home demolition of Radcliffe.
Taking first guard, Heyside racked up 214 for nine thanks to Nick Campbell's excellent middle-order knock of 75 and useful back-up efforts from Ben Holt (48) and professional Shadley van Schalkwyk (40).
Saif Ur Rehman's 13 overs leaked 78 runs, but he will have been delighted with his seven-wicket haul.
In reply, Radcliffe were skittled for a meagre 81, Van Schalkwyk and Scott Bloor snapping up five-wicket hauls for 36 and 35 runs respectively.
If Heyside are the upwardly mobile team of the division, then Crompton remain the dominant force.
Simon Wright's men stayed unbeaten for the season with a 10 runs victory in a rain-affected
32-overs fixture at Elton.
The skipper hit a vital unbeaten 52 (three fours and three sixes) in Crompton's 124 for seven which also included 37 from professional Josh Tolley.
Gareth Edwards was Elton's main wicket-taker with six for 45. Elton were bowled out for 114 in the final over of their 32, Mel Whittle and James Allott both taking four for 40.
Oldham were beaten by Milnrow at the Pollards in a 25-overs match. Opening batsman Lee Crabtree hit 66 and Max Power 41 not out as Milnrow made 141 for four, a score which proved beyond their hosts, who were restricted to 118 for eight.
Mudassar Butt top scored for Oldham with 35, while Milnrow's overseas amateur Brandon Diplock
collected six for 56 in a controlled spell of bowling which knocked the stuffing out of the home side.
