Danny has the final say

GOLF: DANNY Marland won Mr Captain’s Final at Oldham with a superb two-round return of nett 121.

Playing off 19 in the first round, he shot a gross 79 for 60.

And, despite losing a shot off his handicap in the second round, he underlined his consistency with another 79 and nett 61.

Second place went to Steve Warburton with rounds of 73-11-62 and 72-10-62 for 124.


WINNERS of an invitation Greensome Stableford at Crompton and Royton were Carina-May Teirney of the host club and Adele Keate (Brookdale)

They scored 36 points to edge out Gwen Bannister (Crompton and Royton) and Jean Clarke (Brookdale) by a single point.
