Home victory keeps Tonge in command

TONGE retained their firm grip on the Manchester Premier League title race with an 11-3 (187-145) home victory over Richmond.
Matt Gillies led the way with a 21-8 victory, while there were also wins for Jimmy Derby (21-16), Nigel Greenhalgh (21-10), Stephen Leach (21-15), Darren Griffiths (21-15), Donny Wilkinson (21-16), Steve Squire (21-13) and Thomas Dobson (21-10).
Dobson, who is unbeaten in all his league matches this season, has won the last man standing trophy.
He also teamed up with Andrew Lowe (Rochdale) to qualify for the finals of the Thwaites men’s pairs at Norden BC.
The duo defeated Healey’s Rob Stott and Adam Higgins 21-17 in the third round.
Heats in this competition and the AC Ventilation women’s pairs continue on Sunday (5.30pm).
There are still vacancies in the latter competition on Sunday and August 1.
