Tonge ‘Sale’ to big win

BOWLS: TONGE BC looked every inch Manchester Premier League champions-elect as they crushed hosts Sale Excelsior 200 points to 139.

With three games of the season left, Tonge remain well clear at the division’s summit.

They had seven winners at Sale — Jimmy Derby (21-4), Matt Gillies (21-16), Nicky Brooks (21-13), Nigel Greenhalgh (21-6), Gary Smith (21-13), Tommy Dobson (21-13) and Steve Squires (21-11), who handed Tonge an overall 13.5-3 victory. The club’s next fixture is away at Tottington on Wednesday.


THE Thwaites Pairs men’s finals’ night takes place at Norden Bowling Club on Sunday (practice 5pm, start 5.30pm). The draw is:

ENTRIES for the Jack Taylor women’s singles competition at Norden Bowling Club are now being taken.
