FOOTBALL:
A GOAL in each half helped Mossley get their new Evo-Stik League Division One North campaign off to a flying start at Radcliffe Borough.
Tom Pratt opened the scoring in the 19th minute at Stainton Park, before Luke Horrocks wrapped up a well-deserved first-day victory shortly after the restart.
The Lilywhites will hope to extend their impressive start to the season tomorrow when they host big-spending Trafford (7.45pm kick-off). Meanwhile, Manchester Premier Cup holders Mossley have been handed a bye in the first round draw of this season’s competition.
CHADDERTON’S stuttering start to the 2015-16 season continued with a thumping 9-2 home defeat by North-West Counties League rivals AFC Liverpool in the FA Cup extra preliminary round.
The hosts were down and out by half-time as Steve Jones (three), Francis Barry (two) and Liam Loughlin handed the Merseysiders a six-goal lead.
Jones added a further two goals after the restart, while Ronnie Morgan was also on target as Liverpool ran riot.
Chadderton’s replies came late in the game from Matt Russell (penalty) and Keith Melvin.
They return to league action next weekend with a trip to new club Whitchurch Alport.
