THE first batch of Oldham Amateur Rugby League awards were handed out at the annual presentation evening at Oldham’ Royal Oak.
Pub landlord Dave Sweeney was recognised for his support of the local amateur league with an award from vice-chair Anita Halliwell. Sweeney stages meetings at the pub and helps out behind the scenes whenever possible.
Hollinwood ARLFC legend and volunteer Fred Halliwell was recognised with the Bernard Flanagan Cup for outstanding service to the league. And last but not least, OARL secretary Phil Bradbury was presented with the unsung hero award for his dedicated service over the last five years.
Two awards arestill to be presented: The Limehurst Lions have won the Billy Webb Club of the Year Cup, while the Youth Player of the Year is Waterhead prospect Alec Jobson.
