Khamal Hussain, of Glodwick, notched a treble against Unison ‘A’.
TABLE TENNIS: REIGNING champions Glodwick are having to fight hard to keep hold of their Oldham and District Table Tennis League Division One crown.
On paper, two 8-2 victories over newly-promoted Unison and Birley Moss seemed straightforward enough. But four of Glodwick’s Birley wins went to five sets and there were several close games with Unison.
There were upsets in two inter-club derbies as Saddleworth ‘B’ beat their ‘A’ team 7-3 — Paul King and Matthew Evans notched trebles — and Honeywell ‘C’ overcame their ‘A’ team 6-4.
In Division Two, Rosehill are endured some tough encounters since relegation last season, with all their games so far finishing 6-4.
Rosehill’s latest match was a 6-4 reverse to Hyde YMCA ‘A’, for whom the talented Matthew Weatherby and Geoff Ogden were unbeaten.
Coldhurst ‘A’ look strong this year and they had an excellent 9-1 win against Unison ‘B’. Their only defeat came in the doubles.
