RUGBY:WATERHEAD Warriors brought down the curtain on their 2015 season with a 36-18 loss at home to Woolston.
The damage was done in the first half as Dave Orwell’s men found themselves 22-6 adrift in the NCL Division Three.
A Luke De Feu try, goaled by Jamie Mayall, was all that Waterhead had to show for their efforts as Lewis Hoarty (three), Christian Taylor and James Rosson went in. Hoarty converted just one of the five tries.
Further tries from Will Maudsley (two) and Tom Keevil stretched Woolston’s lead in the second half.
A young Waterhead side never gave up the fight and were rewarded with a brace of tries in the last five minutes of their season.
Ciaran Dean dived in and then Warrington Wolves-bound Liam Aspin won a 85-yard foot race to score from an Alec Jobson kick through. Mayall added the conversions.
