Oldham GPO 2, Westwood 3
FOOTBALL: SAHIL Khan scored twice as Westwood overcame Oldham GPO in the Jack Abbott Premier Division of the Oldham Sunday League at Cathedral Road.
After a decent start to the season, Westwood manager Nurul Hoque is hoping his side can better last term’s mid-table finish when they made their debut as a top-flight club.
Genial Hoque’s team really did shine. His tactical nous is second to none and I can only see Westwood bettering themselves in the years to come.
For GPO manager Chris Lawton, celebrating his 46th birthday, it was a disappointing result after his side had led twice. Lawton, no slouch at tactics, said: “It was a ding-dong battle at times, but Westwood were on top for several periods. “We tried hard to get an equaliser, but in the final 15 minutes it never felt like we were going to score.”
