Amir Hussain in England Youth Squad
TABLE TENNIS:
YOUNG Oldham star Amir Hussain has been picked for the England youth squad for the second season.
The 11-year-old player, a pupil at Greenacres Primary School, is in the development group of 17 players.
Table Tennis England announced the squad - the 17, plus a 14-strong performance group - following assessments over the summer.
Over the coming season players will attend monthly sessions at the National Sports Centre at Lilleshall, as well as having regular contact from national coaching staff.
Table Tennis England’s head of coaching and performance, Simon Mills, said: “We are excited to see how these young players develop.”
Hussain is a familiar face on the Oldham and District Table Tennis League circuit. A key member of the Glodwick club, he has won four titles in the past 12 months - on the back of which he was named sports achiever of the year at the Oldham Sports Awards in July.
