NETBALL:
LUCY Stevenson, who finished with a stunning 95 per cent success rate, was quick out of the blocks in Oldham Netball Club’s 74-37 defeat of Tameside.
She benefited from the pressure play of Rachael Taylor and Jess Dale’s efforts at the back as the local outfit forged an impressive 20-6 lead.
Tameside were better in the second quarter, winning it by four goals, while Oldham made several errors as they forced the ball across court. But Stevenson was imperious and boasted a perfect record under the net.
Oldham made four changes for the third quarter, and with Rachael Taylor back at centre and Gemma McDermott at goal defence, they struck eight goals for a 53-31 advantage.
Amber Hazelton turned over possession time and again, while Stevenson followed Hazelton’s lead in the final quarter and scored from both of them as Oldham raced to victory.
