Nurse hit with seven-game ban

RYAN NURSE has been slapped with a seven-game ban in the Armstrongs Office Furniture Saddleworth and District Cricket League.
The Greenfield’s overseas amateur was found guilty of using foul and abusive language towards an umpire and showing dissent by knocking down his stumps.
The 25-year-old all-rounder was handed 10 matches by the league’s disciplinary committee at a hearing last night, but it was reduced to seven because his club had banned him for three games immediately after the two incidents which took place within 24 hours of each other.
Nurse, who has played first-class cricket for Barbados, swore at the umpire after he was given out during the league fixture at Bamford Fieldhouse on May 24 and he smashed his stumps in a Tanner Cup first-round tie at home to Hollinwood on May 25.
With the ban starting straight away, he will miss Sunday’s Tanner Cup quarter-final at Saddleworth. However, the all-rounder has the right of appeal — he has seven days to lodge his plea — which means he can then continue playing until such time it is heard.
