CROMPTON and Royton’s last major of the season, the final day medal, produced a three-way play off.
Lee Conway (74-5-69), Justin Smyth (80-11-69) and Richard Flynn (81-12-69) returned the same nett scores and it was Smyth who came out on top in the play-off from Conway and Flynn.
There was also a photo finish to the final day team medal. The quartets of Steve Barrett, Mark Barrett, Ryan O’Leary and Andrew Bottomley, and Dave Norbury, Paul Finigan, Pete Bostock and Andy Frizzell returned 132. But it was the former who were celebrating victory after winning a card play-off.
Next came Pete Boggiano, Dave Whitworth, Steve Slicker and Lee Conway with 133.
The first division of the professional’s competition, a 14-hole Stableford, was won by O J Wild with 35 points. S Hopkinson was runner-up with 31.
