The Year 6 hockey team from Broadfield Primary School recently won the Oldham.
FAILSWORTH Year Nines are through to the fourth round of the English Schools’ Football Association under-14s PlayStation Schools’ Cup following a convincing 4-1 victory against The Heath School from Halton.
The local lads enjoyed much the better of the exchanges throughout the first half and they opened the scoring through Lewis Cain.
Leon Tessier doubled his side’s tally to secure a comfortable 2-0 advantage at the break.
The home side came back strongly after the restart and reduced the arrears with a smart strike, but Failsworth added another couple of goals to their tally though Tessier and Connor Thomas to book their place in the next stage.
The prestigious national knock-out competition attracted 668 entries this season from the length and breadth of the country.
Failsworth will go through to the last 64, and the business end of the competition, if they can overcome their fourth round opponents.
The draw for the next round is still to be made.
North Chadderton Year Nines are also through to round four of the competition following their recent 5-2 win against Mirfield Free Grammar School, from Spen Valley.
