Bryant off in Mossley defeat

NINE-man Mossley slipped to their second straight Evo-Stik League Division One North defeat, 3-2 at home against fellow play-off chasers Burscough, writes SIMON SMEDLEY.
Prospects initially looked rosy for the Lilywhites when Tom Dean fired them in front after 14 minutes.
However, by half-time the visitors had taken the lead thanks to a couple of strikes from skipper Paul Williams, the second coming from the penalty spot.
Karl Noon made it 3-1 to Burscough shortly after half-time.
Sub Dougie Carroll reduced the arrears late on, but it wasn’t enough for Mossley, who again suffered from poor discipline on the pitch. Kyle McGonigle was shown a straight red card, as was Mitchell Bryant for retaliation, meaning he was sent off for the second successive game.
The Lilywhites return to league action on Wednesday when they travel to current FA Cup heroes Northwich Victoria.
CHADDERTON’S FA Carlsberg Vase second-round tie at Atherton Collieries on Friday night was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. The two teams will try again at Alder Street tonight (7.45pm kick-off).
