Another tough test for Delph
Date published: 27 June 2008
BIG games are coming thick and fast for third-placed Delph in premiership one of the Drakes Huddersfield League.
Just six days after they were beaten by Honley, who are seeking a fourth consecutive championship crown, Grant Jones’ side head to Golcar.
Tomorrow’s hosts have an eye on top honours after an excellent first half of the season.
Delph are also in the running, but they can ill-afford another defeat against one of their title rivals.
They allowed Honley to get out of jail last weekend, and won’t want a similar chance to slip from their grasp.
Delph are in action on Sunday, when they welcome Holmfirth to Huddersfield Road.
Former Lancashire wicketkeeper Jamie Haynes will continue behind the stumps as Jones, who will play, struggles with a back injury.
Delph’s second team are at home to Thongsbridge in an Inter-Conference fixture tomorrow.
FOLLOWING a frustrating weekend , Woodhouses will be looking for a pick-me-up at home to Denton St Lawrence in the Lancashire County League tomorrow.
The Medlock Road outfit’s hopes of victory against Stand last Saturday were thwarted by rain — their opponents were 55 for eight in reply to 186 for two — while they were knocked out of the Walkden Cup by Prestwich 24 hours later.
