Oldham end 2015 in style
Date published: 16 December 2015
OLDHAM Netball Club's National Premier League side signed off 2015 with a resounding 56-25 victory at Cheltenham-based Hucclecote.
Oldham started quickly, moving into a 3-1 lead before Hucclecote hit back. Stung into action, Oldham scored another six unanswered goals.
Emma Dovey and Kerry Almond piled pressure on the Hucclecote shooters, creating turnovers for Gabby Marshall and Iona Darroch to finish.
Leading 16-8, there were no Oldham changes for the second quarter in which they extended their lead to 31-14.
For the third quarter, Abby Tyrrell switched to goal defence, with Dovey, Marshall and Darroch all moving up the court, giving McAndrew a break. The changes did little to hinder Oldham's speed and court play as the whole team worked hard to limit chances for the opposition.
Holding a 45-19 advantage, Oldham were in complete control and the final quarter saw a few more changes. Slick play gave Oldham the chances to increase their lead.
