RL rally round for flood victims
Date published: 17 December 2015
RUGBY League has dug deep to help out after the recent Cumbrian floods.
Signed shirts and other rugby league items are winging their way to Cumbria to be auctioned in aid of the Cumbria Community Foundation, a registered charity raising funds for the victims of the floods across the county.
Organiser Tony Harrison, deputy sports editor of Cumbrian Newspapers (which launched the appeal), has been overwhelmed by local generosity. Already all the Super League clubs have pledged items.
“The response has been magnificent, not only from the clubs outside the area, but from the professional Cumbrian clubs, too,” said Tony. “Not one has turned me down, which just proves the strength of the rugby league family.”
The items are being auctioned on eBay as soon as they arrive — signed shirts from Doncaster, Whitehaven and Huddersfield Giants were the first to be listed, as well as briefs kindly donated by myoddballs.com
