Coach hails Ebbie’s ‘great game’

OLDHAM Netball Club dominated opponents Deeside from start to finish in a comprehensive 70-31 North-West Premier League success.
It was the local side’s first appearance at the new Oldham Sports Centre — and they rose to the occasion to maintain their unbeaten record.
Oldham scored seven goals in the opening quarter to go 19-8 ahead. Deeside, with only seven players, were always going to find it hard to keep up the intensity but refused to let their heads drop.
Rebecca Hope was introduced at centre for the second quarter, while Kimberley Meadows and Lucy Stevenson swapped positions in the attacking circle.
The hosts had to work hard to gain possession, but when they did the points continued to pile up.
Leading 37-16 at half time, Oldham rang the changes.
The new line-up took time to settle in but eventually won the third quarter 15-8.
Oldham pushed the power button in the final quarter, turning over possession on nine occasions, while Danson-Chappell continued to give excellent feeds into the circle.
“It was great to get back on court after a long break,” said Oldham coach Suzy Ashworth.
“Ebbie (Danson-Chappell) was player of the match. She had a great game in both defence and attack.”
