Happy return to action for ’Head

FOOTBALL: SPRINGHEAD finally managed to get back into FBT Manchester League Premier Division action when they took on Wythenshawe Amateurs in what was only their second game in the last 12 weeks.
But it took a change of venue for Springhead to finally get in some match time.
After overseeing a much-needed 2-1 victory against Ams, Springhead boss Lee McAllister said: “It’s been difficult, to say the least, and it has felt like pre-season all over again.
“Our pitch wasn’t playable because of the heavy rain, so we took the decision to book the 3G surface at the OASIS Academy. I thought we might have been a bit rusty after all the inactivity, but we looked sharp and were deserved winners.”
In Division One, Hollinwood were held to a 1-1 home draw by fellow strugglers Wilmslow Albion.
’Wood’s reserve team were beaten 6-3 by their Leigh Athletic counterparts in Division Two, but the club’s ‘A’ team’s impressive recent run of form continued in Division Three as they roared to a 7-1 victory against Chapel Town.
